Buy artwork by Raffael
Raphael (1483-1520), also known as Raffaello Sanzio da Urbino, ranks alongside the artists Leonardo Da Vinci and Michelangelo as one of the triumvirate of the Middle-Italian High Renaissance. His portraits and paintings of the Madonna are particularly well known, including the fresco of the "Sistine Madonna", which was a gift for the Pope. Far more famous than the Madonna herself, however, are the two so-called 'Raphael's Angels', who sit in the cloud at the bottom of the same work in and have become a favourite motif in art.
