Logan Teng

Logan Teng combines white curved forms with colourful colour gradients in his sculptures and sculptures and transports the viewer into a unique world of abstract arts. Born and raised in Hong Kong, the unconventional sculptures tell of an exciting life. Teng first began to study medicine before deciding in favour of art against the will of his parents. The clear and at the same time very plastic lines of his sculptures are often broken up and softened by dripping colours. The tension between black and white - which belong to the young artist's primary colors - is thus resolved. Also typical are the strictly square black pedestals on which the curved sculptures are placed.

Logan Teng: I am always surprised myself, which forms I create in the end.

What are you working on right now?

I am currently engaged in a series of abstract, small-format sculptures. Who knows, maybe there will be another phase after that in which I prefer to deal with figurative motifs. I'd also like to try a really big sculpture.

If you were not an artist, what would you be?

My path was actually already mapped out. I was already in the middle of my medical studies, just as my parents had wished. It's really a cliché. But from the very first day, everything in me was resisted. At that time the training was still very theoretical. I pulled the emergency brake just in time, because I don't think I could cope with seeing large amounts of blood. I'm very happy with what I'm doing now. My parents have also come to terms with it in the meantime.

Which KunstLoft painting is your favourite?

Auf den ersten Blick hat mir 'Meine Auszeit' von Ruby Xue gefallen. Sie verwendet auch solche Farben, wie ich es gerne tue. Schöne, freundliche und kontrastreiche Farben.
