„For me the combination of new experiences and old memories counts. Of course, I am influenced by my childhood in the country, but I have been living in the city for many years now. Inspirations for new motifs come to me when I walk through the streets and observe my surroundings. These can be people, nature motifs or architectural peculiarities. When I start to paint, memories often come over me. In my paintings elements from two completely different habitats merge.”
Why did you become an artist?
„Even as a little boy I felt an enormous creativity in me. In my remote home village I didn't have enough opportunities to realize them. That's why I knew early on that I would eventually move to a big city to study art. When I was 20, I felt ready for a new chapter in my life and set off for Hong Kong. There I studied art for 5 years. Meanwhile I know that painting is the best way to express my thoughts and feelings. That's why I passionately pursue this art form today and try to inspire and stimulate reflection with my paintings.”
If you weren't an artist, what would you have become?
„For me, another profession was never an option. But if I hadn't moved to the big city, I'd probably be working as a farmer in the field today.”
