Kanita Raiwa's sculptures are bursting with strength and yet radiate an unbelievable amount of tranquillity. It is all the more astonishing to see the lively young woman creating her dormant works in a brightly colored studio. Kanita is powerful and full of energy, but her almost childlike, colorful and shrill appearance may not fit the sculptures at all. She admits that she is certain that she would go crazy without the resting power of art. And indeed: as soon as Kanita starts to work, she radiates an inner calm, all excitement and hecticness has disappeared from her face and she gives herself completely to the creation of gentle forms.
