Why did you become an artist?

„At first it was only a hobby that I started as a counterbalance to my work. But I soon realised how good these two disciplines equally complement each other and fulfill me. My job had always entailed engaging with the forces of nature and earthly energy. Privately, I busied myself a lot with meditation. Hence, it was interesting for me to experience that through painting I can release very similar feelings. It lets me calm down and pause. I hope that these vibrations are at the very least partly transferred to the viewer.”

What are you working on at the moment?

„At the moment I am working on a whole series of paintings. Right now colours are clearly at the forefront for me. I do not know before whether I will publish a painting after completing it. I keep some works for myself and give others away. But I am not sure yet with my current paintings.”

What makes a painting something special?

„Art is after all primarily something emotional. If someone were to tell me what I should to paint, I would have to say that I cannot do that. What gets onto the canvas is guided by feelings and can be hardly steered. At least that is how it is with me, and it turns every painting into something special since I eventually reveal my entire inner self on the canvas. This, however, does not make feel any more vulnerable. Instead I think, that I get stronger with every painting.”
