Jiraphat Sarit

The artist Jiraphat Sarit learned early in his life that a medal always has two sides. In order to break out of the poor conditions in his home village in Thailand, Sarit was not content to make ordinary wall sculptures out of metal - he always wanted to stand out from the crowd. This is why he creates his handmade works of art with geometric figures as often as possible from two pieces and lets them enter into an artistic symbiosis.

Jiraphat Sarit: The calm lies in geometric figures.

How do you get inspired?

I have a very pronounced subconscious that gives me inspiring dreams in my sleep. In fact, in my dreams I often go through the entire artistic process - from finding a motif to working on the metal to the final cut. As soon as I wake up in the morning, I grab my notepad, which is always next to my bed, and write or paint everything down.

If you weren't an artist, what would you have become?

I don't have to think for a second: If I hadn't taken up the profession of an artist, I would be a psychotherapist today with a focus on interpreting dreams.

What are you currently working on?

At the moment I'm taking a break from artistic work. The mind must always be able to calm down so that new creativity can develop. For the future, however, I continue to plan predominantly two-part wall sculptures in which geometric figures unite in a harmonious game.
