The artist Harry Zhao combines two personal passions in his acrylic paintings in an extraordinary way. His love for painting and his interest in sports disciplines of all kinds. Movement sequences on the racing bike or on a rapid downhill run on the ski slope achieve a breathtaking degree of reality through the use of vivid colours and a dynamic brush stroke, which gives the artist a special characteristic.

Why did you become an artist?

„Due to my love of art and my great interest in sports, I began to combine these two components at an early age. It is my incentive to capture my enthusiasm and experiences for various sports and to reproduce them through artistic representations. In this respect, I have the opportunity to share impressions and perspectives with other people and infect them with my enthusiasm.”

What makes a painting special?

„In all my pictures I try to show the passion and devotion of the athlete for his discipline. My goal is to make the pictures as authentic as possible and to cast a spell over the observer. The acrylic paintings transport the effort and the tears but also the feeling of victory and success and thus arouse the interest for this sport. ”

How do you get inspired?

„It is obvious that I find my inspiration in sport. I am passionate about skiing myself, but I also attend numerous competitions and tournaments. Here I observe the athletes in the execution of their disciplines very closely and reflect these in my works of art.”
