Above all, wide meadows full of flowers and trees serve Eva Wei as a source of inspiration. In depicting her landscapes, she skilfully makes use of the entire palette of colours. Depending on the incidence of light, she changes her colour application and fluctuates between energetic density and subdued colour. The artist grows up in Shanghai. Narrowed by the urban jungle, she often undertakes excursions into the countryside on her own. Travelling is also a great passion and a good opportunity for the painter to collect new impressions. Her dream is to make a round trip in the USA. In her paintings, the composition of the motif parts unfolds a dynamic that occupies the entire picture plane. Whether strong autumn tones or delicate shimmer - Eva Wei is a master when it comes to capturing naturalness.

What are you working on at the moment?

„A few days ago I bought an illustrated book with photos from southern Italy. I'm currently studying it because I'm currently painting many Mediterranean landscapes. In the near future I will be able to travel a bit more - I think I will get some ideas there as well.”

How do you get inspired?

„As already said, my travels are an important source of inspiration for me. How am I supposed to paint landscapes and other nature motifs if I have always only seen the city? Of course, my possibilities are limited. That's why I concentrate on photos and other paintings. Of course, seeing the characteristic landscape of an area is always a completely different experience. Especially if I have only painted it before and then suddenly see it in real. I am often overwhelmed.”

Which KunstLoft painting is your favourite?

„Vein of Nature by Mason Luó. It doesn't show a landscape in the traditional sense, but it captures the peace and purity of the moment well. My speciality are landscapes, but also a single scene can say a lot.”
