Ella Wenren

Ella Wenren's paintings impressively depict motifs from the animal world. The animals are in the centre of the painting and attract attention. The close-up view creates an event that captivates every observer. The realistic images are partly exaggerated and form an allegory of power and strength. Exciting ensembles of light and dark underscore the necessary straightforwardness to make one's own way. Wenren's paintings are undoubtedly also a guarantor of motivation due to the opaque application of paint.

Ella Wenren: My goal is to capture the wisdom of the animals.

What are you currently working on?

I'm currently working on "close-ups" à la 'Still Conscience'. So, sections that show a lot of details from a small area. Especially when you show the face or the concrete eyes of an animal in detail, you have the feeling that you can look into its soul.

How do you get inspired?

Since the objects of my desire unfortunately have their natural habitat thousands of kilometres away from here, I actually often go to zoos. As a little girl I was already fond of zoos. Or I look at illustrated books and documentaries. But actually I also have so many scenes in my head that would provide motifs for a lifetime. Nevertheless, my biggest dream is to travel to Africa.

Which KunstLoft painting is your favorite?

I love my picture 'Taru, King of the Elephants' very much. Elephants are very wise animals, which despite their size radiate a sedate elegance. I have kept a very low profile here in terms of colour and it is precisely in the simple colour that the power of this picture lies. Light and shadow are central.
