Kenneth Zeng is fascinated by bold and bright colours. With his virtuoso brushwork and his uncontrollable expressiveness, he brings all his creativity onto the canvas. His hand painted acrylic paintings still seem to be coherent and harmonious. The artist wants to produce both modern and timeless pieces that stand the test against short lived trends and bring joy.

Why did you become an artist?

„I wanted to paint pictures my daughter likes. And it is even better when people actually spend money on my art. It has always been a dream of mine for a long time. Especially since it is such a big contrast to the office work I had to do for eight hours every day. It is really a great blessing to be able to do what I have always wanted to and to earn something extra with it as well.”

If you were not an artist, what would you be?

„I can go back to my father’s business anytime. The plan still is for me to go back later on and take it over. So my future is secured. As much as love painting, I am happy that I can provide something for my wife and daughter in case there was an emergency. Artists are in China often do not make a living, and many are afraid on completely relying on the art. I would probably also not have dared to without the security that I have through my family.”

Which KunstLoft painting is your favourite?

„‘In the Pond’ by Finn Kao is a gorgeous painting. This choice might be surprising, seeing as it is so rectilinear and my paintings are more sprawling, but privately I like it more distinguished. It is hanging in our living room above the sofa.”
